Free Tournament Brackets Now Live on Digital Darts Online
Create Your Own Darts Tournament: Free Tournament Brackets Now Live on Digital Darts Online
Digital Darts Online is entering a new chapter.
Over the past few years, we have learned a huge amount about what darts players, tournament organisers, leagues, venues and communities actually need from digital darts software.
One lesson stands above almost everything else: flexibility matters.
There isn’t one way to play darts. There isn’t one type of tournament organiser. And there certainly isn’t one format that works for every darts community.
That is why we’re changing the direction of Digital Darts Online and putting create-your-own competitions at the heart of what comes next.
The first major step is already live.
Free Darts Tournament Brackets Are Now Available
Digital Darts Online now allows you to create and manage your own Darts Tournament Brackets completely free.
Our first tournament format is the classic single-elimination knockout tournament.
The concept is simple: players enter the tournament, winners progress through the bracket and defeated players are eliminated until one player remains.
Whether you’re organising a competitive darts event or simply want to settle once and for all who is the best player among a group of friends, you can create your tournament and manage the knockout through Digital Darts Online.
Create a Tournament in Minutes
We wanted the process to be straightforward.
Tournament organisers can create their competition and add participants as either guest players or existing Digital Darts Online players.
This distinction is important.
We don’t believe every person entering a casual or grassroots darts tournament should necessarily have to create an account before the organiser can get started.
Guest players therefore make it possible to build a tournament quickly and easily.
At the same time, registered Digital Darts Online account holders can benefit from additional functionality connected to their accounts.
It gives organisers flexibility depending on the type of competition they are running.
Who Can Use the Darts Tournament Builder?
The short answer is: anyone.
We want our tournament tools to be useful across the darts community.
You could be running a knockout tournament at your local pub.
You might operate a darts club and want to organise a members’ competition.
You could be an independent tournament organiser looking for a simple way to generate and manage a knockout bracket.
You might run an online darts community and want to create competitions for your members.
Or you could simply have eight friends coming over for an evening of darts and want something better than scribbling the draw on a piece of paper.
Digital darts technology shouldn’t only be accessible to major organisations.
Some of the best competitions in darts happen at grassroots level.
Our objective is to give those organisers practical digital tools without making the process unnecessarily complicated.
Why Digital Darts Online Is Changing Direction
This launch represents more than another feature being added to the website.
It is the beginning of a wider change in direction for Digital Darts Online.
Working in and around the darts industry has taught us that being agile is essential.
The darts ecosystem includes professional competition, grassroots leagues, pubs and clubs, independent tournaments, online darts, casual players and countless communities built around the sport.
Each has different requirements.
Rather than trying to create one rigid system and expecting everybody to adapt to it, we want to increasingly build tools that allow you to create the competition that works for your community.
That philosophy is going to influence much of what we develop next.
Create Your Own Tournament Is Step One
Our new tournament builder is the first part of a broader move towards create-your-own functionality across Digital Darts Online.
Today, that begins with single-elimination knockout tournaments.
But it doesn’t end there.
Create-your-own leagues are also on the way.
Our longer-term aim is to provide a growing collection of tools that give darts organisers greater control over how their competitions are structured and managed.
Tournament organisers shouldn’t have to change the way they run darts simply because their software tells them to.
We want the software to work around the competition.
What Is a Single-Elimination Darts Tournament?
Single elimination is one of the simplest and most recognisable tournament formats in darts.
Two players compete against each other and the winner advances to the next round.
The loser is eliminated.
That process continues through each stage of the tournament until the final determines the overall winner.
Depending on the number of participants, a tournament could progress through rounds such as:
Round One → Last 16 → Quarter-Finals → Semi-Finals → Final
It is straightforward for players to understand, easy for organisers to communicate and creates the jeopardy that makes knockout darts so entertaining.
One match can decide everything.
That makes single elimination an ideal starting point for our tournament system.
Why Use an Online Darts Tournament Bracket?
For smaller competitions, manually creating a tournament bracket might initially seem easy.
But things can quickly become harder to manage as the number of players increases.
Who plays whom?
Who does the winner face next?
Which matches have already been completed?
Where are we in the tournament?
A digital tournament system provides a central structure for the competition and makes the progression through the knockout considerably easier to follow.
It also means organisers can spend more time running and enjoying their tournament rather than manually maintaining the draw.
Built for Grassroots Darts
Grassroots darts is particularly important to what we’re trying to build.
Technology within sport often begins at the top and gradually works its way down.
We think there is also a huge opportunity to approach things from the other direction.
There are thousands of people organising darts in pubs, clubs, workplaces, communities and friendship groups.
Those competitions might not have television cameras, huge prize funds or professional production teams.
But they still matter to the people playing in them.
They deserve good tools too.
By making our tournament builder free to use and allowing guest players to participate, we’re trying to remove as much friction as possible between deciding to run a darts tournament and actually running it.
Our Approach: You Create It
There is a simple idea behind where Digital Darts Online is heading:
You create it. You control it. We provide the tools.
Instead of Digital Darts Online only being a destination where competitions created by us take place, we want it to become a platform that helps other people create their own darts experiences.
That could mean a tournament tonight between friends.
It could mean a recurring competition within a pub.
It could mean a community tournament involving players from different locations.
And, as our league functionality develops, it could mean much longer-running competitions created and managed by their own organisers.
We think that is a considerably more interesting future for the platform.
What’s Coming Next?
Launching our knockout tournament builder is the first step rather than the finished product.
We’ll continue developing the tournament system while moving further into our create-your-own strategy.
League functionality is one of the major areas coming next.
We also want feedback from the people actually using these tools.
If you’re a darts player, tournament organiser, league organiser, pub, club or community administrator, your experience matters.
What makes running a tournament unnecessarily difficult?
What functionality would save you time?
What would you want from a digital darts league system?
And what features would make you move away from spreadsheets, pieces of paper or other systems you’re currently using?
Those are exactly the problems we’re interested in solving.
Create Your Free Darts Tournament Today
The new Digital Darts Online knockout tournament system is available now.
There is no charge to create your tournament, and you can include guest players or Digital Darts Online account holders depending on how you want to run your competition.
If you’ve got a group of players ready to compete, there’s only one question left:
Who’s going to be the last player standing?
